Our Kindle Fire wouldn't charge any more, which (having seen this problem before) I diagnosed as a bad USB port. We received a new Fire as a gift, which came with a new cable. The new cable charges both Kindles, and the old cable won't charge either Kindle. The problem was the old cable.
